Choosing your professional wedding photography package is not an easy task, especially if the wedding photographers packages all appear very attractive. The cost, the number and size and style of wedding photographs all have to be considered. This page offers some useful advice to assist you in choosing the wedding photography package that is just right for you

We are proud to offer our most discerning couples, a wonderful range of superbly styled high-end quality wedding photography packages, with each image, photograph and storybook being designed and stylized to your individual requirements. Here are a few pointers to help you decide what type of package suits you.

  1. PRICE - This is usually the first thing that people consider. Do we want a cheap (and usually nasty!) package offered by a hobby photographer who is interested in little more than the money, or could we get a friend or family member with a 'good 'camera'? Should we have a professional wedding photographer who charges £800 or £4,000? These questions are entirely up to you of course but should be considered in the context of the overall cost of the wedding. If your wedding is going to cost £25,000 even the £4,000 price tag is only a small part of the cost (16%) If however your wedding budget is £5,000, £800 is an identical proportion of the cost.  Although a smaller budget, your photographs will still be as important to you as a client spending five tims as much. You therefore have to decide how important your wedding photographs are to you. For most couples they are very important and the quality and style of the photography is paramount. Remember your photographs last a lifetime and can be enjoyed by you, your family and friends forever, whereas almost everything else that you have paid for is gone and forgotten quickly, unless of course you have a wonderful collection of photographs to remind you.
  2. QUALITY - All professional wedding photographers should offer the very highest possible quality throughout their entire product range. Unfortunately this is not always the case as there are two distinct type of professionaI. A 'Professional' can be regarded as anybody offering a service for money and whereas this includes all professional photographers I am alluding to the ones who are only interested in earning money and little else. On the other hand, the TRUE Professional wedding photographer is one who has a great love and passion for what he does, coupled with immence pride when he presents the couple with the results of his skill and labour. If anything has gone wrong, he will leave no stone unturned to put things right and will, at no extra charge, complete tasks that were not even considered at the time. An example of this was our removal of all the spots from a groom with chickenpox. You will have to meet the photographer in person and ask lots of questions to acertain if he is a .True' professional wedding photographer and really capable of giving you the quality and style that you have been dreaming of.
  3. STYLE -  In bygone days wedding photographs all looked very similar but it is a completely different 'picture' now. There are many modern styles that wouldn't have been dreamt of then. And these styles are continually evolving into new and wonderful mini works of art. At a wedding fair where I was exhibiting, crowds stopped and marvelled at another photographer's display in which the 'Bride' was draped upside down over a huge round boulder. Very impressive but firstly this was a professional model, not a real Bride, and secondly, I can guess the answer I would get if I asked one of my Brides to adopt that pose! If she actually requested that pose, that would be another matter. Of course I would do it.
  4. ARTWORK AND DESIGN - This is a topic that is sometimes misconstrued as being tacky and false. Much of the artwork that is used to enhance a photograph in unseen unless it is side-by-side with the original and includes correcting skin tones, removing blemishes, increasing or decreasing the brightness and contrast of the background. I once had to remove the scaffolding from a church! The 'Design' of a photograph is according to the couple's taste. A black and white photo with the bouquet in colour is loved by most but not by some. With good photographers there will be advance planning and consultation prior to the wedding to ensure the couples are familiar with all the designs that are available to them together with an assurance that there can be bespoke designs that would be unique to the couple's requirements.
  5. FINAL CHOICE OF PACKAGE - The couple should be free to choose whatever type of package they require without persuasion from the photographer although unbiased advice should always be at hand if required. If the couple opt for an image-on-disc package they should be made aware that the best photographs can only be obtained by using true professional printing labs. If you take them to 'Happy-Crappy-Snaps, the clue to the results is in the name! Photo packages should be accompanied by proofing online so that the finished results can be viewed and amended where necessary before purchase. Examples of photgraphs taken by the photographer at recent weddings should be available for scrutiny. Storybook packages are the most expensive so the couple should be able to see multiple examples of them. There should be close consultation regarding the design of the books and there should be multiple proofing available to ensure the clients see what they are purchasing before they commit.
  6. FLEXIBILITY - Does the photographer offer full flexibility on the content of his packages? Can you add extras to it without paying exhorbitant prices. Can he combine all or parts of packages as required? Does he offer special offers or off-peak discounts? Can he supply a bespoke package exclusively designed by the couple? All the points raised here should offer some help in choosing your photographer and package. Thank you for reading it.
